A 28-year-old man of Turkish descent presents to the clinic with painful mouth sores, a new genital sore, and redness in his right eye. Over the past year, he has experienced four separate episodes of multiple painful oral ulcers, each lasting one to two weeks. Three days ago, he developed a painful ulcer on his scrotum. Since yesterday, he has noticed worsening redness, pain, and blurred vision in his right eye. He also reports a one-week history of right knee pain and tender, red bumps on his shins.
He denies abdominal pain, diarrhea, numbness, or weakness. He has no significant past medical history and takes no medications.
Family history is notable for an uncle with recurrent mouth ulcers.
He is alert and in mild distress due to pain. He is afebrile. His blood pressure is 118/76 mmHg with a heart rate of 82 bpm and a respiratory rate of 14 breaths per minute.
